1. Adverb Activity: What’s True For Yourself?
This activity explores adverbs of frequency. These words tell us how often something happens, from “never” (0%) to “always” (100%).
In this activity, you’ll fill in sentences with adverbs that are true for you, like “I always eat breakfast before class.”
Remember, adverbs of frequency usually go between the subject and verb in a sentence. Can you accurately describe your routines using words like “sometimes,” “often,” or “rarely”?
2. Adverb Sentences – What’s True?
In this worksheet, you’ll find 10 sentences with two adverb choices each. Your task is to circle the adverb that makes the most sense in the context.
For example, in “During the 100-meter sprint, Usain Bolt immediately / sluggishly dashes from the starting line,” you’d circle “immediately.”
This exercise helps you understand how adverbs modify verbs. Can you choose the right adverb for each sentence?
3. Adverb Quiz: Convert Adjectives to Adverbs
This quiz challenges students to change adjectives into adverbs, often by adding “-ly” to the end.
For instance, “calm” becomes “calmly.” Students then use these adverbs in sentences with appropriate verbs, like “The coach spoke calmly to the players.”
However, watch out for exceptions! Some adverbs, like “well,” “fast,” and “hard,” don’t follow the “-ly” rule.
