Hi Shaune. This might be a bit tougher to get a TEFL teaching position in Gran Canaria. But it’s possible.

Here are a couple of ideas for schools:

  • Isla English in Carrizal, Gran Canaria
  • The Irish Academy
  • The British School of Gran Canaria

Most of the schools I found are on the east side of the island. My suggestion is to just reach out to them and see if there are any positions open.

I would like to enquire about positions for TEFL teachers in Gran Canaria. I understand that you teach TEFL classes, but I am hoping you can assist me or point me in the right direction for job applications. I’ve completed my TEFL course at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and am now looking to find employment as a teacher/junior teacher. I aware that the fact that I don’t have any experience in the field might be a drawback. I’m looking at Gran Canaria because I have very longstanding dear friends who live there, and they would provide me with a support structure and if need be initial accommodation. I have also spent an extended period on the island and love the culture and people.
